Mission Statement: What is our purpose?
InterfaithRabbi.org is the website for Ohr Shekinah, a nonprofit 501[c][3] organization based in Oakland, California. We are dedicated to nurturing Jewish and interfaith awareness through developing mixed family lifecycle ceremonies and practices, intercultural celebrations and holiday family gatherings. We sponsor a volunteer chaplaincy program, visiting the sick and elderly at San Francisco Bay Area hospitals and nursing homes.
We are an independent spiritual community and resource center providing educational opportunities, social networking, and spiritual direction for Jewish, interfaith and intercultural families and friends.
Vision: Who do we desire to become?
Cultivating relationships that are sustainable and eco-minded.
•Educate and build through social networking and content curation lifecycle ceremonies that are distinctive and relevant for both families heritage and spiritual traditions in a balanced, sensitive and meaningful manner.
•Build an online resource center that is reflective of both the global community at large and the Jewish diaspora using social media and the internet.
•Through extensive research and experimentation, we collaborate on innovative rituals and ceremonies combining ancient traditions with modern perspectives with our members and affiliate partners.
•We seek to inspire and educate families to create personalized rituals that are authentic, meaningful and memorable.
•We partner with like-minded, diverse leadership to perform lifecycle ceremonies and seasonal celebrations.
•Discover creative ways to include diverse cultural customs and traditions into our celebrations with food, dress, music and dance.
•We provide an online and real time forum for seekers to reconnect to their spiritual and cultural roots in a safe and open-minded environment
